    cjbrowne.net | Web Design - Please review :)

I have to point out that it's a bit unusual that there's no separation between the background image and the text unless it's all white or likewise. It sort of seems like the page consists of a little text, a background image, and some JavaScript. Also I don't really think that having three...

I would think it's because the drop down menu has a higher z-index than the image. I could be wrong though!

Please review this "Free Web Directory" site design ^^

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but there seems to be a few pixel anomalies. Looks to be a little pixel jog in firefox for the footer. Not a big deal though! The blue paperclip thingy in the header should be on the same side as the one below it. They look a bit crisscrossed to me :)

    Critic Please ^^

As far as functionality goes it's impossible to scroll over the flash, which means you need to move the cursor over to the body section for it to work. Also the design is a wee bit gloomy! No harm though :) For the record I'm not a particular flash fan. But why is the whole page done in flash...

    Content Management System

Off on a tangent, much? I didn't really know they existed until after I knew how to make sites either, so I can't really comment on how useful they are. But I would think that if you did it yourself you'd have a lot more fun with it. They can't really be too important if thousands...

What is the worst website that you've ever seen?

That last one might've been a little busy :) The first site that came to mind was http://www.y5b.com/. Theee dumbest site in the universe! "At the end of its life, the Sun will start to fuse helium into heavier elements and begin to swell up, ultimately growing so large that it will engulf the...

HTML files saved with a PHP extention

It would help a lot if you decided that you wanted to use PHP later.

I second that, and also in the box on the left, since the links look like ads for some reason. And I think you should add a plain white background color to the entire content background and keep the shading in the body behind it. I had to wait a second to see if a background color was going to...

    Rate My Site!

Who doesn't ;) unless they're on Waldo. That guy's M.I.A.. I'm glad you're gonna ditch the scroll! I love to hate those things :)

    opinions on our new design

I kind of like it. It's like reading a newspaper which I think is a bit neat. The thing is that it's just too bright for me (and probably others) to read, though the actual content is written in a very friendly manner and is therefore quite pleasant. Definitely needs a bit more color though...

    New site

The only harm I can see coming from this would be that people who don't like your design will think that you're a bit delusional. But then again who isn't ;) I'm not a particular fan of the color set up either, it's too dark for the small white font and your use of background images is mind...

    Rate My Site!

I remember viewing your site once before, though I think you had a different layout back then. I have to say that there are a few things that I don't really care for, the first being the 'enter' page, as I don't really think you need it! The second thing would be the scroll in the middle of the...

As a Web Designer, how much programming should I know?

Hm, that's good to know:) I have to say though that it's my life ambition to master all languages  I have a lot of spare time on my hands..

    html marquee

I don't think you can. But if you really need it to I'm sure you could do it with flash. Even though it's probably a bit more complicated.

    Table less website design?

I think most designers these days shy away from using tables as means for a layout. If you want to make your site flexible and editable you can't really stick to a table grid.

    Please Review My Web Page

Well I'm not saying that I did any better than you. The main thing about the site is that there just isn't enough stuff to put on the page, but I did my best to make it look full with the time I had! http://www.htmlswag.com/articles/visual/sapphire/index.html Edit: I didn't add any gradients...

    Please Review My Web Page

Yes, tables are pretty crazy! But since it's still only a single page as of now and you seem to be struggling a little, I'd be happy to do a single page mock-up for you if you'd like. I sort of feel like the page isn't living up to it's potential! The white background really made a big...

    A corporate web site

With a huge curtain like that I can only see down to the top of the image below 'Croatian dream'. So basically if the curtain took a dirt nap you could put the square links on the left hand side, and thereby elevate the actual content. I know you said it's a requirement but I think you just have...

Please take a look at my site

The font is pretty much too small all around, especially in the header and footer sections. Also the latter section is floating on top of the content bottom for some reason, and is doing so consistently in every browser I have except for Safari. If it were a Div I'd tell you to add a border to...

    DIVS or Tables

Tables are fixed to a grid system which is great for forums, where the content always stays in a grid formation. Divs are better for general layout purposes since they can be moved independently of one another and are therefore easier to rearrange and manipulate.
