Logo design is a most important part of graphic design. It should be perfect and according to the company services because the logo represents companies brands or corporate identities.
Your logo should be attractive and message conveying.

What do you think guys.......

I've noticed some people find logo design harder than web design. It's all about being able to associate the business name with the main aim of the business successfully.

1st rule, it should be simple and easy to remember/recognise and not full of superfluous detail. Typography plays a crucial role as it takes years of branding and marketing to rely solely on a 'shape' - think McDonalds for instance.

I agree, logo design is very important for your business. With logo design you can increase your brand identity and awareness about your products or services. If you are worried about logo designing then you can choose from various logo design software available in the market. I would like to recommend Logosmartz, its easy to use and allows you to create professional logs in minutes

I agree, I updated my website some days ago and there were many things that I had to consider because I didn't want to lose my logo and brand information.

well it's easy to overdo a logo design. The most important thing is finding out the most about a company and their needs. Sadly most companies want to push their logo to such an extreme that you need to either go with the flow and give up a lot of visual esthetics for your customers happiness or you will have to be strong and try to get them to trust you that YOU are a trained expert and that they came to you, so they should rely on you for a good logo since this is probably the most important design process for most companies.

And the design doesn't need to be simple, but it has to be able to visually communicate the company, without being too outside of the desired market. (a wine glass for "Al's Oil Change Emporium" is a good example of a bad logo)

One of the most important things i ask for people looking for a logo is to find out what they will do with their logo and how they will reproduce it. I know alot of times people like to have a 2 color solid logo (and this is still the trend) because of printing techniques of most places not being digital (usually for silk screened business cards, t-shirts, and vinyl cut graphics) but with technology the way it is ... pretty much keeping up with trends in logos is almost required to provide your customers with something their company can grow with and be able to use for years to come.

here are a few sources i use along with logo and branding books that have been made the last 10 years.

a logo is one of the most vital parts of any company, it is what will stop people and make them go 'oh that xyz.com', colours have a big part to play in the selection process.

also what users is you company cater towards? does that make certain colors a no go? are you using images/fonts/vector shape-brushes.

if i were you id sit down with a good olde pencil and paper bat a ruff idea of what you want out then research the ideas you put on paper

also what i tend to do if im really struggling is to get a book flick it open, finger stab a part of the page for a word (do this twice), and make an image out of that. you can get some very out of the box things :D

I think logo design is the art of visually communicating a certain company within graphics.
a logo designer should know about the main concepts of the company before he designs its logo

So true!~ We have had logo projects that have literally taken longer than the time it would take to create a decent, custom 5-page Flash site.

I think logo is one aspect of a company's commercial brand, or economic or academic entity, and its shapes, colors, fonts, and images usually are different from others in a similar market. Logos are also used to identify organizations and other non-commercial entities.

Nothing worse than seeing that a client paid big money for a logo but the website is cheesy and just plain old nothingness. Logo is your branding tool. The site needs to go with it and yes that logo better match what the business or website is all about.

Our basic logos are $45 bucks and up and they are amazing and we can even design it while you watch via our gotomeeting so you can actually get a logo designed within a few moments. As for the more detailed ones we just take your concept and come up with a few options for you to choose from.

One of the most common things is a client sends us an image to be vectorized. Well, we came up with a solution for those and partnered with VectorMagic you can see it on our ClipArt page. It's pretty cool cause you can upload a bmp or whatever and edit the vector options then when finished download your vector artwork!

See for yourself http://www.snerdey.com/clipart.html
( Our clip art is free with template purchase ) so I'm not trying to sell you the clip art. Just that's where our banner is for the VectorMagic for now as we're making a new section for it.

I don't know what is worse, the fact you edited this for a typo, and still have one in this paragraph ... or that you are trying to sell template monster templates as your own.

I think logo design is something that the owner of the website or the company should think of or at least they should have some kind of input on how it should actually look like. Because somehow if the logo is asked to be made by the designer then without proper association on how the company would want it to look like, "exactly look" like then designing would really become hard no matter how good the designer is.
