WYSIWYG Design it yourself feature

I'm very much a novice in the web design world and had a client ask about adding a WYSIWYG feature to a website so that visitors could build their own promotional items much like 48hourprint.com does. I've no idea how to do this and assume it would take an experienced developer to build. Does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive way to handle this? He'd also like to integrate it into a shopping cart - which the site does not currently have. Thanks!

You might want to take a look at TinyMCE. It's a highly configurable Web based WYSIWYG editor written in JavaScript. It's open source (free), and easily integrates into your CMS or static website.

Check it out at http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/
