WordPress Access to site impossible

I have mistakenly set up a site/blog on Wordpress.com. I have not added any information to the site. I would like to delete the site but WordPress will not accept my username or password so I can't access it to delete it.
This is stopping me using the URL for the correct site with my web host.
The only details I have from WordPress is an email with username and password which I am unable to use.
Any suggestions ?
Any help much appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for the link but this is the bit I cannot get past. I enter my Username - this should trigger an email to me but I don't get any email with a new password. It is not recognising my username.

Then either:

You are using the wrong user name.

or

You do not actually have a WordPress account with that user name


HOWEVER:

What are the answers to the other two points?

Because those replies will determine if you are banging your head against a wall that does not require knocking down.

Yes, I am banging my head against a brick wall.
I have not got the username wrong and I do have an account.
But thanks for your interest.

Do you actually want help to resolve this issue or not??

Because so far you have not provided any information that might allow us to assist further than saying try a different user name.

Though there is the old standby advice of "Check your junk mail folder"

Telling us WHY this is stopping you setting up your hosting would be a promising start, because out of all the times I have set up WordPress for people, having a wordpress.com account or not, has NEVER been an issue.
