    Hello,

I want to create a new site. I have a good deal of experience with html, css, js, MVC4, etc.

I work for a large training company but I would like to know what the best approach is to make a typical public website. What I mean is, one with a home page (informational), a discussion forum (not sure how much data storage I would need for this), and a couple of other pages. The forum piece is what I really need help with. Are there templates that a person should use to create a forum? If so, could someone point me in a direction?

Any advice would be appreciated. All the best.

    Wordpress + BBPress

    Or

    Joomla! + Kunena.

I would go with Wordpress over Joomla, but that is a personal preference. I am sure there is a template online for what you require. Try themeforest, they have some excellent ones.

I'd look carefully at the features of both and see which one fits what you want to achieve and which one would mean less customisation for you. Do the home work. Theme Forest has Buddy press themes.
