web designing advice please

I have done all the back end work for my website but i need to design the outlook for it. My current site is just too dull. I want to know how i can design the webpage to look like themes in joomla, drupal or wordpress. The layout is just neat and the color gradients are just awesome. Can i do that with codes? Or is it all graphics?

You will want to use HTML/CSS (code) to build your pages, as graphics are not searchable (for SEO purposes).

You can start at HTML Dog and w3schools for great tutorials.

There's a lot of GPL templates for all of those packages. Find a few that you like, check the license is GPL & ok to do what you want. Then File>Save as complete webpage and study the way it's built. You should be able to adapt the template to use for you own site. Just leave credits where credits are due.
