Good evenin' everyone!

As the subject indicates: I'm looking for volunteers, a bucket full of.

--------------------

Qoud? What community?
I am giving birth to a community website that connects artists, photographers, web designers, ...
The project will be a mix of dA, cpluv and artreview, but will - hopefully - be unique, although I'm quite sure that I'm not the first one to come which such an idea.

Users can manage their own portfolio in which they can show their latest creations, get spotted by companies, be discovered, ...
There are account-mode settings like "webdesigner", "photographer", "director" and all related fields. (multiple fields are allowed, of course.)
Users can also create groups for their school (if it's a related institution/university) and / or company (if it's related to their skills).
There are boards for them to discuss each others works, novelties, ... but they can also communicate profile-to-profile (Private Messages / Comments)

The frontpage will feature an up-to-date news bulletin and an image reel which shows thumbnails of photos, videos, ... . The menu will link to items as "explore", "connect", "discuss" & "support".

Explore will host a nice overview of all fields, but will also be the forwarding page to all subdomains (such as "http://webdesign.websitename.org").
Those subdomains will be specialised in their field and will only show related news, works ...

Connect will launch you into a world of socializing - or so to speak. The category's main goal is to find working partners, a freelancer for your job, people with the same hobby, ...

Discuss. As previously mentioned, there is a forum in which users can discuss anything.

Support. This will be the 'helpers' '' financial aid corner. This part contains merchandising (T-shirts, posters, ...), an option to upgrade your account (1 euro/2 dollar (or how low is the dollar these days?)) (note: upgrading isn't a spectacular upgrade. You have a discount at the shop and to-be discussed features... but nothing ground breaking. It's just a way of supporting the website and servers.)), will contain cry-outs for new writers, designers ...

--------------------

What will these so-called volunteers do? And more important: what's in it for us?

Writers will - guess - post news; no, not about the political situation in Congo - although we might show support for some goals -, no, you write about your specialty (web 2.0, photography, ...).
Good titles and content will be shown on the main page, but will always get their deserved spot at the related subdomains.
This can be a great way to express yourself, because you can do what you love and you get - not to forget - some (dis)credit for it.
Also, for the students and/or people who want to expand their curriculum vitae: being writer of a well-appreciated community doesn't harm.

Coders will do what they do best: code. With their extensive knowledge of MySQL, PHP, Java, ... they make the site fully functional.
You are allowed to write - if you wish so. You will probably be honored by the community, and if not, by me.
Why should you do it? Well, if you don't learn a thing or two and sharpen your skills, you are still working in a well-behaving and friendly environment which appreciates what you are doing;
at the footer of each page there is a small link to the team - with your link, which can help you to pick up some clients and pay your devastating debts.
If the website would be running on full throttle, it's a nice thing to place on your resume, being known as the coder of.
(Once the community website is successful, I will set-up a more commercial website in which 'I' gathered the 'best' freelancers. If you make it to the 'head' team,
I will most likely ask you to lead 'your' department: you can take jobs yourself or hand them out to other freelancers - as you wish.
I will discuss this matter with you personally, since it's off-topic.)

Designers / Graphic Artists will take care of the layouts, the logos, the t-shirts, posters.
You are also allowed to post news to express yourself, give your opinion about something,... Your designs will reach a big audience and you enjoy the same benefits that go for the coders.

Extra information

Sponsoring:
I attracted a hosting company who is willing to sponsor me - without the horrible looking banners. I am setting up contracts with merchandising companies.
I am finding volunteers (-:. I'm also talking to some investors - with success.

Stargazer-matter:
I am aware that my 'plan' looks a bit chaotic, and if have been called a dreamer from time to time because I'm searching for volunteers and aren't paying people.
So, allow me to defend myself, why I am looking for volunteers to do the design / coding and are not looking for 'professionals':
I am searching a team that's there to stay, a group that is motivated. Paid work doesn't guarantee quality, networking and getting to know new people does.

Groundbreaking ideas:
Even if I do have some, I am not giving them away. I am aware that a strong marketing campaign is needed to make the site work and reach the mass.

Contact:
Send me a PM or reply in this topic, would you have some questions.
You can contact me by emailing lowette [at] gmail [dot] com; we can discuss things, I can give you my skype - heck, we can even cyber!

With friendly greetings,
Thizke
