Updating Robots.txt and Sitemap.sml files

This might seem like a stupid question, but do I need to update my website's Robots.txt and/or Sitemap.sml whenever I add pages to my site? Thanks.

Your sitemap, yes. Your robots.txt no, unless you are going to specifically allow/deny the new page or you create a new directory and will then need to declare it in the robots.txt.

You should update the sitemap.xml very time you add to or change the content of existing pages as well.

You also need to resubmit it to the search engines if you want them to take a look at it!

If you are using Wordpress, there's a plugin that updates your sitemap and resubmits it to the search engines automatically.

If not, then oh well.. Manual labour can also be fun I guess.
