Symfony vs Laravel

It depends what you mean by overtakes as they are both a PHP framework? It also depends on what you are trying to accomplish with either framework. Laravel uses Symfony components if that helps.

All depends on how you acclimatize yourself. There's hardly any one upping here since both these platforms offer decent features for any project. I agree above that some components of Laravel come from Symfony.

Laravel mostly use Symphony components. Symphony is excellent for big and complex projects. Laravel is opted by many developers because of its rapid development, speed, and performance.

Laravel's code, built to follow the MVC design pattern, is based on the PHP framework's structure. Laravel is easy to set up and uses simple syntax, making it appealing to beginning PHP developers. In addition to existing components, this framework may pull from other frameworks to create web applications. Laravel's simple, fast coding style and its ability to construct practical web applications in PHP make it a popular choice.

Symfony is a PHP framework that uses MVC patterning and has a large user base. Laravel, like it, can be used on a variety of computing systems and is built on MVC patterning. Most third-party libraries in Laravel are Symfony components, accounting for 30% of the code. While Laravel is a more difficult framework to master, it is more effective for large-scale projects.

Pros & Cons of Laravel and Symfony

Laravel

Pros:

  • PHP updates its code to include the most recent features constantly.
  • It provides third-party app or platform integration through an API.
  • It has an extensive set of supplementary resources.

Cons:

  • Some apps built using Laravel might need to be faster on mobile.
  • It is challenging to determine if the applicant has previous programming experience.
  • Legacy systems have more difficulty migrating to Laravel.

Symfony

Pros:

  • The Symfony framework is regularly updated in the community by the developers.
  • Drupal and Magento are well knowns platforms that utilize Symfony.
  • Very well-written code.

Cons:

  • Symfony apps may slow down when lacking origin elements.
  • Learning, building, and launching take time.
  • It slows down the development process and requires a lot of time for testing.

When is Laravel Better than Symfony (and the Other Way Round)?

Comparing the two PHP web application frameworks will help determine between Laravel and Symfony.

Projects

Symfony is an excellent alternative to web apps that require non-standard development, including enterprise apps, e-commerce apps, and music and video streaming services.
BlablaCar, Dailymotion, Swiss Open Government Data, NatGeo, Trivago, and other well-known organizations utilize Symfony to create hard-to-develop web apps and platforms.
When dealing with smaller projects that demand faster creation facilities, Laravel is more suitable than PHP. Laravel's built-in authentication, simple database migration, and easy configuration make web app development faster and simpler.
Among the most popular Laravel applications, there are Deltanet Travel, MyRank, Laravel Tricks, Koel, Laravel Spreadsheet, Invoice Ninja, and Canvas.

Speed

Symfony is a flexible framework that offers a variety of scaling and optimization options for beginners. On the other hand, PHP experts can enhance the framework's performance.
Laravel is a fast and easy-to-use framework. It has many prebuilt features that web developers do not have to configure manually.

Database access

All of the data in Symfony's Doctrine database is automatically migrated. Software developers must create repository functions to access the data.
In Laravel, web developers perform all CRUD operations against the Eloquent database using the formal method instead of the automatic method. Data access is done using the formal syntax.

Support

Laravel requires no account registration, as it only supports manual factories and decorators and runs on PHP. In addition, YAML, PHP, and XML are supported by Symfony.
