Question about Illustrator CS3 and distress or distort filter?

Hi everybody,
I need some advice to draw a design, if I need to make it looks old by putting the filter on it, how can I do that, does it need working on it in Photoshop or illustrator CS3 has the advantage, I tried some but I didn't get that quality output.

Does it have to be done in Illustrator? If so then you will have to make some vector scratches, apply a vignette. For something like this I would draw it in Illustrator then bring it into Photoshop as a Smart Object. Then you can apply all sorts of effects, scratches, filters etc a lot easily.

Mug, Could you elaborate on this a little? I've been trying to figure out how to create a distressed/old look, and can't seem to figure it out. TIA
