Is there any use for Photoshop PSD files included in templates you download from internet other than using them to build Flash version of site?

PSD Files

MrVon,

You could use the PSD file if you wanted to make adjustments to the original template design. The file also contains slicing information which would eliminate the a lot of cropping and saving. This would also insure all images stay the exact dimensions of the original image and prevent your layout from breaking.

Not to mention all the rollover states on separate layers for easy editing.

Slicing and PSD Files

MrVon,

PSD files are created with Adobe Photoshop. PSD = Photoshop Document.

Slicing is a tool you use in Photoshop. Once you design your layout, you can select areas with the slicing tool and tell the program what you want to name those images once you are done. When you are finished you can simply export all or just the selected slices as any image type (ie. GIF JPG PNG). Each image is saved as a separate image file but your original layout stays in tact.
