I am a newbie and I would like to design my own web site.

    1. what are the common web design software/program/language?
    2. Shall I use something like HTML then download and insert scripts from the internet?
    3. Do I have to download Apache server from the internet and install it to my PC?

    Thank you.

Are you looking to make a single website or are you looking to do this on a consistent basis?

If you're only making 1 site there are hundreds if not thousands of tools that will do the heavy lifting for you.

If you're doing this long term and want to learn more about the inner workings of the technologies involved then I would suggest researching CMS's.

PHP is used to create the HTML and CSS that builds the 'pages' there is no PHP on the client side.

javascript also creates or modifies HTML or CSS.
