Need tips about designing webpages.

Hello Everyone!


I am new to designing web pages. I do not code web pages I got a friend that code, I only design the web pages.

So I am wondering what do I need to think about when I design a webpage? in this case a game website.

What can I do to make it easier for the coder? What do think about when it comes to colours on text, backgrounds, text, pictures, e etc.

Would be awesome if you could help me get started by telling me this. Thanks.

As far as making it easier for him goes. Just be very in depth and precise about what you want. There's nothing worse than a halfway thought out design that you have to try to code.

A good start is to use 960px width and design the images etc to scale.

font-family, font-size, letter-spacing, line-height, color
for font hierarchy h1-h6, p, etc...

link, nav and button hover and active states

colour palette in hex values.

logos and assets in a separate folder. preferably as vectors

illustrator / indesign / psd / pdf of layout.

WordPress is what you may design your site easily.

+1 for wordpress. Its also cheap to host and get a domain. depending on how much coding you know you can change a lot around. Keep in mind you are still stuck with paying for custom design, and a number of other features for that matter.
