My site redesign, looking for feedback.

I've been a bit out of the loop recently, but I have redesigned my design site. I usually try to do this about once a year. I mainly work with vBulletin so the site is in vBulletin.

Purple... I'm undecided. I don't know what the original looked like. Personally I think it's a little bit too dark. Blame my old age, but I had to squint to read some text.

I'm looking into possibly changing the link colors as they have been pointed out to be dark. Do you mean the text is too small?

I think there is overall way too much purple used.
eg.

links, backgrounds, borders, body colour, logos even the twitter icon are purple.
it's overkill.
I also think there is too many borders, every section it seems has a border, sometimes two.

also it appears you've an over reliance on images...

In the "click here to register box", I'm seeing black text on a dark-grey background. The rest looks good to me.

I did a redo of the whole skin and have not gotten to the register box yet. I'll be working on that aspect probably tonight.
