(And, the cell bg images don't show in ie, anyone know why?)

I think the site looks very good. Are you using transparent png's. If you are then that is why they aren't working in IE.

Here is a link with a fix (work around) for IE. I think this has been addressed in IE7 (hope).

After taking a closer look at your site the little script I directed you to won't address your problem (if this is the problem) because you are using them as backgrounds and the script only transforms img tags. Not sure where you go from here except to change the pngs to gifs or start searching the net and see if someone else has a fix you can use. Go to "A List Apart" as they have a bunch of fixes but still not sure if one addresses your usage issue. http://www.alistapart.com/comments/pngopacity/
