multiple sites vs one main site?

Hi Everyone,

I am about to get started on a project that entails creating a couple of high ranking real estate websites. Here is what i need to create:

A website that focuses on city A
A website that focuses on city B
A website that focuses on city C

A blog with real estate articles

My question is, in order to get the sites to rank high on google, should i just combine everything on one site with different subdomains? I would find it easier to generate backlinks for only one site compared to 3-4 sites.

If i combine them all, what is the best way to do so?

Subdomain?
Directory?
different way?

Should i make the blog separate so that i can create backlinks on the blog pointing towards the real estate site?

the perfect scenario would be

3 differents web site in 3 different hosting company

and have them link together

and get backlink for each web site

It doesn't really matter which way you choose. Interlinking sites alone isn't good enough to boost ranking. You need to do more than that.
