MONEY TRANSFER in shopping cart (php) ?

I know how to do the coding to make a shopping cart in php....but one thing i don't understand....we take user's credit card number.....now what is the procedure left to take out money from user's credit card.....do we have to submit the number to the website of 'visa card' or 'master card'?? or do we have to submit it to the bank's website?? if yes then what is the procedure??....if no then what to do??

I believe you are looking for a payment gateway. We use CDGCommerce (www.cdgcommerce.com) but there are various others. Search google for 'payment gateways' for more information.
