inbound links....do images work?

As a web designer I realise the importance of inbound links to a websites ratings. In order to help out my own websites ratings I routinely add our company logo to the bottom of all the pages we design linked through to our main website. When I checked on google for inbound links to our site none came up even though I know there are many sites linked to us. Does the link need to be textual...does an image link not count?

Any help on this matter appreciated.

Cheers

All of my inbound links are text, and Google still does not return the majority of them. So not seeing them in your results does not in and of itself indicate that the linked image is the problem.

I would love to see you publish a study on this. Count your inbound links now with various search engines. Change half of your designed by links to text. Give it six months. Then count again. See if the half changed to text starts showing up more with Google. That would make for a very interesting white paper.
