How much to charge...example listed

Hi,

I would appreciate some opinions on how much to charge for a professional 5-6 page, (perhaps more pages added later static website, with a blog possibly added later), website.

Here's an example of the sort of idea the client is looking for

I don't want to sell myself short, but I'm in need of building up portfolio and don't want to scare the potential client away. I'm not looking for a by-hour rate. I'm looking for a rough figure for the entire project.

She also wants a logo, and I would be providing that service also.

Contracts

How do you guys go about accepting jobs from clients?

Do you have them sign an initial contract, and if so how does it work? Like, what would be an example of a good generic contract. And do you not charge a anything until the final product is accepted?

Oooo its a lawyer, drain her for everything she has! lol. Unfortunately I don't web design for a main income, so hopefully my message will bump this thread up and someone can answer your questions.

If you're building up your portfolio just give a low price. You can worry about charging enough once you've built up some credibility.
