Flash or HTML?

Hello, I am a Graphic Design Student and I am making a research on the decision of using Flash or plain HTML on web designing. What critical decision makes you conclude in using Flash on a website, and if you do, then how much? (Whole website/Only specific sections)

Good question. My whole portfolio is mostly Flash intensive. I think people like html and it looks proffesional. Any companies site, professional or hip, can look good as html with the right graphics. But Flash can work but not usually for boreing companies.

And mixing the two, I dont like.

Overall, you should use flash sparingly. Search engines do see you flash, but it doesn't really help out at all. Never use complete flash if you don't want to be found very easily, unless you are going to have content below the whole flash file. Flash does tend to cost a bit more because there is more effort going into it. I would say it would be a few hundred dollars more that your average website.
