I am trying to promote my website but google barely knows it exsist. I dont understand meta tags and really could use some help? My site is skatefanatic.org I have only had it for about 6-7 days and have had to learn how to write all the code as I go. So its kinda sucky but I am improving. Ive read through w3schools and html goodies about meta tags but Still dont think mine are effective? Are there other things I can do instead of meta tags?

Does this code Go in the <head>? and were can I get an idea of what this junk actually means?

My suggestion would be to visit w3cschoos website. you will find everything that you will ever need about meta tags there.

Check your site with Hubspot's Website Grader. It's an automated tool to check the marketing effectiveness of your site. As with anything automated it has it's limitations but it's a great starting place to get some of the SEO basics of your site correct. Plus, it gives explanations and "rule of thumb" info in very easy to understand terms.

Visit w3schools.com. You will find not only meta tag related information but also almost everything what you want to learn.
