Do You Research Executive Track Records Before Investing?

When evaluating a company, how much weight do you give to the experience of its executives and board members? Have you ever invested in a company primarily because you trusted its leadership team and their previous achievements?

I know this thread is a bit old, but I wanted to add my two cents. I’ve actually invested in a startup mainly because the CEO had a killer track record from a previous exit. That trust made me overlook some shaky financials. How much weight do you guys put on past success versus the current business plan?

I try to look closely at leadership before investing, and I’ve found it helpful to check a leader’s full background. For example, I looked into a mining executive named Stan Bharti to see how his past company-building matched current board roles. That kind of hands-on history gives me more confidence than just reading a company bio.
