Current set up Vs Wordpress

I'm currently building the site www.collegehaze.com. I've been moving along, adding page after page of what will eventually be lots of content. Everything was going fine until I was told I would be a lot better off using Wordpress to manage my site.

I like the idea of wordpress to easily allow several other people to add and manage content, as well as the 2.0 features such as leaving comments/ratings/etc. However that's where my likes stop, and my frustration begins.

I would like if someone could help me get another perspective to decide if wordpress is truly going to be worth my time and anger to figure out. Thanks!

Is there a good way to add comment/rating capabilities to my current site structure? I understand I'll need to install some sort of MySql/PHP structure. If you think this is a viable option, lets discuss this too. Thanks again!
