For no particular reason, other than pure idiocy and the want of more action on the site, I'd like to have a tiny meteor first appear as a believable, faint trace of light from the upper left corner, growing somewhat bigger and more discernible as it travels quickly toward the bottom right, and then have it explode (off-screen) in a brief flash of light, as if hitting the planet.

Would somebody point me to the starting line on how that might be done?

I looked at the prices; ouch! For a one-time use, well, I'd better leave well enough alone.

But, the next time someone complains about the high cost of having a web page designed, rest assured, I'll bring up the price of programs necessary to make it happen. So some good will eventually come from this venture into the unknown.

I don't have any firsthand knowledge of the software, it may not have the capabilities you are looking for, but...I have heard that Swish is pretty good. (http://www.swishzone.com./index.php).

WC, If you just need it for a one time use, try asking around some of the Flash designers. The price for it may not be as bad as you expect.
