I am a newbie (REALLY inexperienced) to the world of web design. I've started by doing lots of tutorials on HTML, XML, CSS, and javascript. I want to practice just with a simple text editor like notepad, but my mac doesn't have a program like that (all the programs I have seem to autoformat what I write no matter how I save it, so when I upload it it looks like a garbled mess...i couldn't even get a simple <h1>header</> to show up right).
So I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for software I could download that is comparable to notepad or something where I could practice some real basic script to start with.
(also as a side note, I've been hearing dreamweaver is the hot ticket. Unfortunately I have adobe GoLive CS2...howwww much worse is that to learn than dreamweaver?)
