As of Saturday, June 20th, the Paddle Station is officially open for business! As Calgary currently sits in phase 2 of reopening, we are finally ready to get you floating down the river as safely and efficiently as possible. We are all incredibly excited to get started with our season. As the economy reopens, it’s important to remember that COVID-19 is still a concern. That being said, the Paddle Station experience will look a little bit different this year to ensure your safety and our staff’s. Your experience will start with new practices for sanitization and physical distancing at our contactless check-in. Our team will be supplied with PPE and sanitizing equipment. Safety talks will be given from a safe distance. And finally, our work area will be kept squeaky-clean with sanitization between all bookings! Sacrificing our physical proximity is a must, but we can still exchange smiling eyes and laughs!
With June being Pride Month, we want to recognize our friends at Calgary Pride! With Canada’s banning of conversion therapy, we have so much to celebrate. But pride in Calgary doesn’t stop at the end of June. We have our annual Pride Raft event to look forward to at the end of August during Calgary’s pride week. In the past few years, our Pride Rafts have been unforgettable. Witnessing the vibrant rainbow flags floating down our gorgeous Bow river is a truly magnificent experience that we are eager to share with you this year.
We have also witnessed a multitude of intense events in 2020. We have seen both the failures and triumphs of humanity. Needless to say, this year will be one for the books. In the past month, the Black Lives Matter organization has led millions of people around the globe to protest against police brutality, including in our beloved City of Calgary! As an organization owned and operated by a family of colour, we want to use this platform to express our allyship for Black and Indigenous communities. Our eyes and ears are open to you because #BlackLivesMatter, now and always. Rafting Calgary
