Animated Buttons?? Can it be done?

I am currently building my second website for my band. I really want to have some stylized buttons to spruce it up.

What I have in my head:

While button is idle - a static image

While mouse is hovering - animation

When mouse is clicked - static image ( different to the first one)

Is this at all possible? I have Dreamweaver and Flash but I have a gung ho know it all/know nothing approach to them both. I am confident but I have big gaps in my knowledge. No money to spnd on anyone else to do it so it's just little ol me!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you can point me in the right direction. (Can i insert an animation as a rollover image? if so how?)

Thank you.

Cheers

Joe

Hey, this could easily done in Flash. When you create a new button, you'll need to specify the up, over, down, and hit state.

up = it's normal position
over = when the cursor rolls over
down = when the mouse is clicked
hit = the sensitive area of the button

Just wack an animation in the over state and it'll animate when your cursor rolls over.

For dreamweaver, you could create a regular image in photoshop and an animation in imageready.

Then when you insert an image in dreamweaver choose a rollover image and have the regular image on the normal state, and select the animation for the active state? Then add the target and link etc using the properties panel.

A couple of ways to achieve this.
