Adding audio to a web page

I want to add audio to my web page.

I would like simple button controls - start and stop and for you not to be directed away from the page to a media player.

I've been told the best way to do this is to create a flash audio clip.

Can anyone point me to any good tutorials on how to do this, or give me any tips and advice.
