Account Creation and Login

How could I make my website begin with a page that says type you're username and password to login to view the entire website?

And if you don't have an account, how can I make an account creation setup?

Can somebody please post a link of some useful information, not just "Posting things like this from various sites would be unjust, only the holiest... blah blah blah..."

Do you have a website up and running yet?
Most off the shelf cms content management systems have an integrated account creation/login process. And a lot of good ones can be used free and have instructions on how to use them.
http://www.opensourcecms.com/ has good reviews and comparisons on all the software available.
