3D cube in CSS

Was just wondering if this was possible. I'm probably going to incorporate it slightly into my new portfolio site 
I started experimenting with this concept (from this example) about a year ago, I think. If memory serves me correctly it worked amazing in webkit, was functional but pretty average looking in firefox and opera and IE well, they had no chance.
I had the same idea of somehow incorporating it into my portfolio but getting it to work across all browsers was a bridge too big to cross.
However like I said that was about a year ago.

'Kewl' trick but in all reality how many times are you going to need to do something like that?
