Where did it come from?

How did you guys and gals learn to do this stuff? I started going to college for it, but I needed a break, so I quit. So I'm teaching all this stuff to myself. I seem to be able to teach myself better than anyone else can. Anyone else feel the same way?

set yourself a project and then just do the research required to achieve it.
I find the best way of learning is by actually doing it.

I agree with both of them... over my lifetime I've done a lot of things... teaching, counseling, restaurant management, and the list could go on... the only drawback to being self taught is there may be areas that you are deficient in... on the other hand... i'm thinking that technology and the software to run it evolve at such a rate that classroom learning could be far behind what you can find on your own.

I believe anything you want to learn is best self taught with goals and targets you want to achieve to keep you motivated. This is defo true for programming, and anything as intensive as this. Just crack on, its all got to be practical anyway...
