SEO for domain move

Situation:
Moved my domain from thefreegamesdb.com to tfgdb.com
Used 301 redirects
Submitted sitemaps for both domains to google
Notified google of domain move
3-4 weeks later google traffic is at 75% lower from original site.

Problem:
I don't really like my new domain name and really want to fix the search traffic.
1. Would switching back to the original domain thefreegamesdb.com put my google search results back to normal?
2. Will giving more time, cause my google traffic to stabilize/increase?
3. Any other suggestions?

I don't really like my new domain name and really want to fix the search traffic.
So why did you change it?

1. No. it will simply extend the time it takes to recover.

2. Possibly.

3. Yes. Stop relying on traffic from Search.

I'm not sure why you changed your domain name, thefreegamesdb has a keyword in it, which is a major factor for SEO.
1. Maybe, it has a keyword in the name so you should see some positive movement in rankings. However, if it will give you your pre-change traffic is $64000 question.... It depends on google algorithm and on your site and on hundreds of other factors.
2. Hard to say. In organic factors only change is constant, so just because you are getting 100 visitors a day doesn't mean that you will get them until hell freezes over.
3. Generate high quality content.

WRONG!! It never has been and with the current Google algorithms and filters, it is more likely to be a drawback.

:) Then how would you explain the fact that one of my EMD sites ranks first for quite competitive keyword and raising for other related keywords?

A: Rankings mean nothing at all. ESPECIALLY if you are always "rank checking"

B: Does that particular key word appear NOWHERE ELSE on that particular document at the URL???

Before EMD update there was no content at all and it started ranking on the first page without any optimization at all, just few links from more or less good sites. Now it ranks number 1 and it does have good on-page optimization, however the content is not of a great quality.

When you check rankings you have to use special software, then your ranking will not be affected by your cookies.

And you think that is a true measure??
"Rankings" are affected by more than cookies.

It got to the first page within two weeks after the website was created.
Nothing new there then.

... just few links from more or less good sites.
So why is it the domain name that gets the credit??

And for the biggie, How are the conversions from these 'rankings' ??

Don't flatter yourself, I'm not that interested.

I'm just not sure how to respond to statements that don't make sense, that's all.

There's no 'standard' for conversion rates but 95% - 98% missing the target is a lot of wasted traffic.

Yes there is, average conversion rate between all e-commerce sites on "The Internets" is about 2%. Yes, 98% miss the target but I don't pay a penny for it, since it is organic.

That is NOT a 'standard' just somebody's best guess.

Maybe, but it does show that your "magic key word(s)" aren't that good.
