I hate firefox...please help

My website is under construction at the moment. I'm doing some much needed upgrades this summer. Right now as my site sits in Safari and Chrome, it renders perfectly. But in FireFox it looks like a dogs *** hole. My logo looks butchered. The font is too bold and blurry. Also there's a mysterious black line under my background image. What is wrong?? Please feel free to look through my source code! And yes I'm fully aware that I'm probably not using Div paddings the right way. I'm still learning : )

Thanks in advance.

Well when a "upgrading" document takes almost TWO MINUTES to render and froze my entire machine for that duration, you have more problems than a padding.

And there is no such thing as position: center;

You know what might help in this situation? Instead of demeaning my admittedly novice web design skills, perhaps you can do as I politely asked and help me.

Thanks.

And no offense but I'd say you have your own problems. I'm running a base model MBPro with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, DreamWeaver and other applications all running in the background....and I still don't have THAT problem.

resize your logo properly in a graphics app - and save it as an 8-bit png. can't comment on the rest of the site cos you've taken it down and replaced with that 'broken' page

no, the page you get when you go to my site is the one I'm referring to. Why does firefox need 8 bit png?

YOU will have all the graphics on the page CACHED so are not downloaded from the server.

Why are you fussing about a holding page, AND where does this "black line" manifest itself

Okay so
Please feel free to look through my source code!
Doesn't mean that you want informing about errors that are seen then.

it's not firefox that needs -bit png but you need to size your image properly so it's not resize in the browser - perferably resize it as vector (if you have it as that) then export as png-8 (jpeg is for photos and gradients) and it will be nice and clear and a small filesize to boot!

i don't see the problems you mention in my firefox (v 21, win 7)

Hmm..then it must be firefox on my computer. That screen show is exactly how it's supposed to look. Weird.

First off, I mentioned that I had several programs running in the background with the firefox window open and had no problems with my system freezing up. So why you're having issues is beyond me. So I'm not fussing, I'm just pointing out the fact that you're full of ****.

Second, when someone posts that they're having issues with their code and complaining about a specific problem and they encourage others who are more knowledgeable to examine their code....I imagine they would expect others more experienced than them to be examining the code for that particular problem and not random bs they weren't concerned about.

Third, you clearly don't care about helping people and quite frankly you come off as a total d***. I suggest you **** off. Have a nice day.

I think you'll find that it is you being the dick, I simply pointed out what I observed when first loading your URL, now if you didn't want any problems that OTHER PEOPLE may have pointing out to you, I suggest that you NEVER ask for help anywhere ever again just in case somebody tells you the truth.

Seriously..... here, I'll let you re read what you said. I'll even break it down for you.

Ok, here's where you being a giant douche.... I ask politely for help identifying a problem. You respond more or less with, "your website is making my system crash, you have more issues than just padding".

My thought on this. Ok, I don't really care that you're computer is in desperate need of a format and reinstall of Windows 98 I would just really appreciate some help from someone who I trust is probably more experienced at me than this.

Then you say, "and there is no such thing as the following code".

This is how I think most people would interpret this comment. "by the way, you suck at coding". You have not only come across as a careless 18 year old living in his mom's basement feasting on hotpockets and Code Red, but you've proven to be less helpful than a 90 year old Walmart greeter. Congratulations, where would you like me to mail you you're prize?

K, I've fixed the logo, just haven't uploaded it yet. I've figured out that if I zoom out in firefox the line goes away. If I hit command 0 (mac) the default view has the black line under the blue caution tape. I've tried playing with the margin levels and moving the main text away but it all seems to be with the image. Do you think it's a rendering issue with firefox...kinda like the issue it had with the logo??

on my mac at work now: no black line in firefox or chrome.

(only the drop shadow)

i think the font looks shite in firefox (on mac at least) because you have the heavy weight of helvetica light

"HelveticaNeueLight" - 700×

Font Family
"HelveticaNeueLight", Helvetica, Arial, Serif;

I ask politely for help identifying a problem. You respond more or less with, "your website is making my system crash, you have more issues than just padding".

And I identify two problems that I encountered. I do NOT, never have and never will 'spoonfeed' answers to anyone, I always tell people the problem I found and then leave them to find the solution(s). Giving an exact solution only solves that particular problem and teaches you that somebody else knows the answer. YOU having to to find the answer by researching and testing things teaches you far more than any instant solution will.
That is the principle of a forum. They do NOT exist to provide instant aswers, they exist so that you can learn how to learn, with your peers pointing out errors.

Primary school (first grade) is where you learn by rote and have answers presented to you, out here is the real world, where you have to know how to find answers for yourself.

Your home page seems to be displaying okay, but missing the lang="en" declaration. However, your "sample of my work" page is a PDF with NO source code whatsoever?

I would advise instead of linking to a pdf file, which is not a good idea, why not use img src=, or generate a fresh new page with all the required elements included in your source code of the page?

I hope it helps.... :)-
