My chrome doesn't have a scroll bar....

iLike IT :)

You see THAT is what I mean about a narrow viewpoint, it is what YOU prefer that concerns you, not what is appropriate or useful for others.

If you are developing/creating a website that is PURELY for you, such as a 'vanity' site, personal blog etc. then you can do whatever you wish with it and add whatever features you like, because it is for YOUR benefit or ego.
If what you are developing is meant for others to use then you have to consider the "bigger picture".

yes and the bigger picture is creating interactivity. Did you read the other posts. Pop up scroll bar....it fits both the desire and the need. No different than what people experience now with other devices. To have the scroll bar show by default is obsolete. We should have the option to activate that or be as creative as we would like hence having a pop up scroll bar i.e. hover over where the scroll bar would typically appear and whoala there's a scroll bar their. The document looks so much better not having that ugly unnecessary, distracting tab on the side. It actually looks like a projected document now.

I understand what you are trying to say but it is unnecessary and an old model of thinking. It's technology, not moral development. Its about efficiency and creativity. There are inconsistencies in life.

does your chrome have a scroll bar anymore?

As it has been pointed out 'touch' devices do not have a 'hover' state.

I don't use Google Chrome simply because I do have a disability and an eyesight problem and find chrome very difficult because of the lack of status bar for visual confirmation and the lack of a menu for performing basic operations.

possibly, but your total misunderstanding of the overflow property is what was seen as laughable, not the fact that chrome implementers have managed to do what you wanted without you, me anybody having to "put our creativity to good use" as you liked to put it.

glad to see that not one single finger was needed to be lifted in the name of development for that to happen. just like suspected.

there is a very VERY big different between a browsers UI (which is what you were talking about) and css and/or html properties. the last time I did anything to a scrollbar was in about 2000. for IE. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure to this day only IE has ever managed to have the scrollbar customisable. and it was always extremely buggy. realistically I've got better things to worry about (like client NEEDS) than a scrollbar.

It is, and will be for a while yet non standardised across all browsers/OS. just live with it. now you say chrome has a similar UI to whats going on in iOS? excellent, you now need to concentrate on doing some work.

I'd start with profitfrommydomain.com. it looks like shit buddy.

Damn it son! and touch devices don't have scroll bars either (when web browsing as well as other browsing scenarios), so why would my argument apply to that to begin with? Get off the thread.

Actually I have three touch screen devices that have a visual indicator, AKA a scroll bar, on the right hand edge of any application client window that has more information that is currently hidden by virtue of being 'off screen'
