Trouble exporting Fireworks CS5 mockup to Dreamweaver

They probably look like mountains to you at the moment, but hills soon, then just slight inclines...
option 1 is your best option.
No need to use xhtml unless you intend to parse xml.
Personally id use html5, and if you are going to learn something from scratch, or close to it, it may as well be the future and not the past...
And css is very useful to learn. Very...

Well thank you everyone. It's nice to meet you all (informally anyway). Unfortunately I seem to be back at square one.

It seems I have at least three options here.

1. Write the whole thing myself in xhtml & css (probably not going to happen)
2. Start over again from scratch in DW utilizing css
or
3. Fix what I don't like about my WP template site and keep using it.

Anyway I look at it I've got some hills to climb, (more learning to do). :(

~heavy sigh~

Thanx again.

As Phreaddee said... you do have some climbing but it gets better and one day you'll look back at these mountains and laugh. I'd like to make a suggestion though...

Even though you said (probably not going to happen) option 1 is going to be your best bet. Relying on software to make the work happen leaves you with little control over your website... particularly it leaves you with exactly how much control the software allows. That's not usually much. The only way to really control what is happening and make a good functional site is going to be writing the html5 (not xhtml) and css yourself.

I know that sounds like a daunting task but there are always communities willing to help (ahem this one?) and in the end you will be much more successful in web design if you do it this way. Good luck to you Robin.

Not to sound negative, but why are you trying to have Fireworks export your possibly nice design into some horrid table-ridden layout?

If you're not prepared to extend your knowledge of HTML and learn CSS then I would give up, or ask someone to code it for you. Dreamweaver never did anyone ever good in design view either. If you're gonna use an IDE, 1) don't use Dreamweaver, and 2) code view all the way.

:)
