Great tips guys! thanks a lot. Ill work on resizing the logo and try left aligning and reducing the line height of the text today.

I think i'm going to leave the yellow at this point. Ive already toned it down a lot, and i think the few highlights and borders that are left are reasonable. Thanks for the input though.

didn't get chance to reply before but a lot of sites open pdfs in the same window and the back button is there in the browser to go back - nothing strange or unusual in that.

I think it is more "pro" to have links always open in the same window unless there is some special reason not to do so (and a pdf is not one of them).Opening new windows/tabs should be something that is under user control as it is part of their UI -so if you do open a new window/tab then you should let the user know (that it opens in a new window).

resize your logo! it's way bigger than it needs to be!

centred text for copy is not recommended - it harder to read than left aligned (not fully justified) text

don't forget your favicon

i like the font choice ;)

"Meeting the needs of todays material handling industry" todays should have an apostrophe ;)

the 3d product images are very nice, and clear.

few coding errors on some pages

again please left-align your text :)

I do have a favicon... its working for me... is it not for you?

What coding errors are you talking about? im a newb so i have a hard time finding them. Any tips on finding them?

services and product pages have errors - use the w3c validator
http://validator.w3.org/ (just enter/copy paste the page url)

no favicon for me, no - firefox 4.01 on windows vista

Wow! tons of errors... I think i got them all fixed though... i ended up adding a javascript to open up the pages in a new window instead of using target=_blank

Also not sure why the favicon isnt working... its working on all my browsers on 7?

I made another few changes and reuploaded the site... Ive got to get to work drawing some attachments and making some catalog pages now. Im putting far to much time into this website. haha

much preferred the old one:

navigation slider is annoying

background distracting and makes text harder to read

Hmmm interesting...

The completely black background one?

I can understand the annoyance of the nav slider... ill probly ditch it.

I thought I improved readability a lot with the black text/light background, but maybe Im mistaken...

the black background with the grey diagonal lines - too much contrast , needs to be a lot more subtle

Ok. Thats one thing ive been struggling with. I just cant figure out a good background. you think stripes are good, if more subtle? like wider, or less difference in colors?

then it's the size and the spacing that is too large
e.g.

Howdy... im gonna bump this one more time. Ive made a few little changes on the site recently, as well as started learning a new rendering program for my part. It allows my to try some new styles and methods. I put the results in a slideshow on the homepage.

Would you guys let me know what you think of the new layout? and of the new renders?

http://www.cbimfg.com as usual...
