Illustrator vs. Photoshop vs. Fireworks.

Which of these programs (if any) do you use to layout your designs? Why do you use it?

Personally I use Illustrator. It just seems pretty easy to me and I'm used to it. I guess I could learn how to do layouts in Photoshop or Fireworks, but at the cost of productivity.

I'll stick with Illustrator for now.

well for my design i use CSS as much as possible, but for what i do have to do that i can't do with CSS i use Photoshop CS3 for. Its a nice program, very user friendly! BTW does anyone know where i could get a copy of CS4?

Always buy from Adobe so that it doesn't get outrageously expensive :)

As for the topic: I'm a long time Adobe supporter, so naturally when they acquired Fireworks, I began using Fireworks in conjunction with Dreamweaver for image optimizing mainly. Whenever I need to create a full blown layout I always use Photoshop (version varies on need, I have 7 and CS2 but have used 5-CS3).

Illustrator is more of a drawing program IMO. I've used it several times to create digital art, but I wouldn't ever imagine making a web layout on it. Whatever suits you I suppose?

Hey guys! First post :)

Anyways, I have always had Fireworks and Dreamweaver, so I am very familiar with that. I use those two together for my websites. Its pretty easy in my opinion. Currently working on learning on how to do it in Photoshop.

Photoshop has more creative options in my opinion. Also, you should consider the ease of layout that the Photoshop UI provides :) I find it easier to get to everything and the tools they offer tend to be more web oriented, which suits my needs.

After some thought, Fireworks is for sure my vectoring program :) I may design a shape in Fireworks then bring it into Photoshop for styling and implementation.
