which CMS(Joomla/CMS) for developing a volunteer site?

I would like to develop a simple version site similar to
http://www.idealist.org/

which CMS is better for this purpose
Joomla or Wordpress?

There's a paid CMS for non profits called Raiser's Edge. I've heard good things. Never worked with it myself.

You can give the same structure and flow using Joomla. You can do it fine without buying extension. I saw there the "post a listing" which seems to be a directory inside, which you can do it with JoomlaD - the free extension especially created for directory listings. I saw on your example site that choosing the french language leads you to a subdomain especially made for french. I would do it the same even if Joomla has a language switch built-in. So it is possible to do it with no headache and no expense.

Yeah Im a WorrdPress advocate and I would say stay away from it on this one. Sure it COULD do it.. but the amout of plugins and coding would be a nightmare.
