Whats the word on animated email signatures?

I have a client that would like one. I know a flash signature isn't practical because it wont show up in most email apps. However, gifs will, though I dont think I've seen one. I would create it in Fireworks, though I'm not sure of the feasability, ie, are they considered a good advertising/business practice or not? Thank you for any suggestions!

Depends on how lame their idea is...

Animations usually tend to drive me nuts unless they are very well made.

An animated e-mail signature? Is that what your client wants? Oh Lord, did you ask him about the hit counter and table-based layout, too? ;)

Yep, bad idea in my opinion. If they want to be noticed, write decent relevant emails. If they want to be seen as professional, id suggest they steer clear of something that looks like an ad. (which is the only thing a.gifs are good for)

Thanks for the great feedback, you've helped me some time and the client some money on an unnecessary project...thanks again.

Glad we could help! Though you really should charge him for making you even *consider* doing an animated email signature. :D
