I am trying to figure out which software would be best to install on my website. I want to have a bar on the left with quick links, a banner on the top and in the middle/right i want to have "squares". There would be like 6 - 8 squares, each of which would have say a picture and some text and link to a different part of the website.

I have used Joomla for my previous websites and think I can figure something out to do what I want, but I am wondering if anyone has any better suggestions.

Pretty much any software is going to allow me to do this, but maybe there is some software that is better the others for this sort of thing? I mean if I used Joomla I would have the squares in a frontpage article or something, but that wouldn't look very good. Can anyone suggest a good way for me to do this?

I'm considering drawing up a basic design and scanning it onto the computer so I can show what I mean, but yeah, can anyone help out?

I was considering wordpress as an option. Would I have to find a theme I like and then manually code the boxes in using linkable pictures or something? Would that be the best way to go about it?

I'm probably gonna use Wordpress on another website as well. Can someone suggest me a good theme to use for an art studio website? I'd be advertising an artist's work but I'm not sure what to look for in a theme for that purpose, does anyone have any ideas?
