The main thing about SEO is it takes countless hours of work. You also need to manually do back links etc The only humorous thing is expect to lose sleep time if you want results.

Seriously. you do not think SEO takes tremendous amount of time to move up on page rank?

SEO wants manual back links and that takes time.

That's because you think that SEO is ONLY about 'ranking'.

    No it does NOT.

The day you realise that SEO and "link building" are NOT one and the same, is the day that you WILL find just how easy real SEO actually is.

I understand what you are saying now. My situation is I do not get any direct traffic from SEO back links. I just get ranking. I do income taxes for a 15K city of locals. I get direct traffic from an ad in a church bulletin. flyers and craig list ad, and my social activates.

Exactly, it's a total waste of time even bothering with creating backlinks.

improve this and you'll improve your conversions.

    it's really that simple.

Get out the idea that Back links == SEO and SEO == Back links.

    http://webmaster-talk.eu/articles/7-website-marketing-and-search/26-links-the-secret-life-of

And that IS what links are REALLY for, if those links also help with traffic from Search then it's a win-win.
When you STOP chasing rankings and start looking for conversions from your links you WILL find that conversions from Search will also improve.

My Google listing is just a phone book directory listing. It is very hard for me to have back links sites for locals. My church site they would have a cow if I promoted my business there.. I am using Facebook to target my locals for direct customers.

What sounds like you really need is a real site review for a start.

Search, in general isn't going to do a vast amount for your particular service because you only provide services is a small area.

I know I may be in the wrong forum but I really need help.

I recently found this web guy that had create a new web site for me. He charged me $5000 for this new web page. The $5000 was to include SEO for the site. Well, the site looks pretty good but I am unsure how I would know that there was proper SEO done to my web site?

He used wordpress to built the site so I have access to my website. I went in and did not see anything plugin that would help with my SEO. All the graphics did not have proper texts to optimize SEO.

I am worry that I have paid for something that isn't done correctly. If you have any suggestion it would be greatly appreciate. Thank you so much!

5 grand for a WordPress site????????????

F*** Me!!! He certainly saw you coming!

There is no such thing, there are "plugins" that purport to be for SEO. But they are

    A: not really necessary

    &

B: More likey to drop your site in the proverbial if you treat them as being all you need to know.

Simple if you can tell it has been "optimised" it hasn't been done very well.

So the same advice applies as in the post above your first one.
