Sake website design

It has been a long time since I was last in here, but none the less when I got interested in webdesigning again recently this was the place for me to go.

I created this webdesign for a new sake (japanese rice wine) community/informative site.

I would love some comments/pointers as to improvements.

EDIT:
I uploaded my picture to a new site that didn't change my image, also I added length to both sides to show the idea behind the "neverending header and footer"

EDIT #2:
So I thought about dave's comments and changed my design to the following: http://i.imgur.com/o3Ku0.jpg . Please comment :)

EDIT #3:

the reflection on the logo is too heavy

overall it's nice but i doesn't quite hit the mark
- use some japanese colours - like what colour is sake or some colours japanese associate with the feeling when you drink sake? have a look at some sake bottles maybe or the sacks in the header

- the latest bits (dark grey/black bg) are too heavy

That is some very nice feedback, I will try to implement those comments into the next build :)
And you are totally correct. There is not really anything japanese about it when I come to think of it :S

Thank you,

Do you recon I should keep the latest videos and blogs corners all round alongside the slider?

Also I made the gradients more subtle on the three buttons, are they too subtle?

I like inputs ;)
