Quoting an online booking system - roughly what would you charge for this?

Hi all,

I'm about to quote a job and was wondering if anyone could offer their insight in to what kind of price range that you would quote.

Not looking for you to waste any time on it but surely you'd have an idea if it was a few hundred, a few thousand, tens of thousands (ok so it's probably not)..?

Basically the client has an existing website and want's a booking system where customers can see availability and book tours. There a so many 'seats' allocated per tour and so many tours per day.

There would be a management console as well.

Pretty much I'm looking at using a CMS with a booking plugin and maybe some small customisation.

Any ideas? It would be a great help! My estimate is around 2000 - 2500 but I don't yet have a good grasp on what the standard price in the industry would actually be for these types of jobs. Maybe I can be more competative or maybe I could make more?

Would the client need people to pay through the website when booking an event? If so that tends to add some cost to the project due to needing to get set up with some sort of payment method.

We recently set up something like this for a client. If you're at all familiar with Joomla, you'll want to check out the RSEvents extension. It does basically what you described. It's also got a commercial addition that will process events through paypal.

Price-wise, we'd do something like this for between $2,250 and $3,500 USD probably, depending on the details and complexity of the rest of the project.
