Is it advisable to change a website from a domain that takes about 10 years to a new domain?

I have a client who wants to move the website from a 10 year old domain to a new domain.

I don't know if in terms of seo or the ranking in google there is a problem.

What would be the best alternatives?

Would it be better to buy the new domain and redirect to the new one?
