User Experience Designer

Positive Digital Solutions is searching for the next design rockstar to join our experienced team! We are a 4-person team located in Solana Beach, CA. This is a great opportunity to work with a small, high caliber team in the initial phase of growth as we launch our first of many web-based applications to the world.
The ideal candidate will have worked on or have thought deeply about a user's experience within the web 2.0 space: How to encourage participation, provide mutual support and build trust. In addition, s/he understands how to leverage modern browser technologies in designing fluid user interactions and processes.
He/she must be passionate about the web, follow the latest design trends and be able to innovate on what they already know. If you love the simplicity of what the web 2.0 style has to offer and can apply traditional design principles to create something that is truly innovative, we have an opening for you.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and executing our user experience strategies including branding, creative direction and user profiling initiatives. This is a hands-on role and you will be creating layouts, wireframes, user interfaces and interactions using the latest versions of Photoshop, Illustrator and other tools you prefer. Aside from the direct web application; s/he will be involved in creating marketing materials and translating all business objectives into innovative deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities and Required Skills
• 2+ years experience in web design or interaction design roles
• Brainstorm and iterate on creative with technology and marketing teams
• Develop site information architecture
• Create flowcharts, wireframes, and design layouts for user research and process design
• Lead usability and user research initiatives
• Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio
• Ability to communicate and multi-task across departments
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Self-starter
• Deadline-driven
• Bachelors degree in a multimedia and/or graphic design preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered
Desired Skills
• Hands-on visual design skills to complement user interaction skills
• Experience with consumer-oriented copy writing and brand creation
• Good understanding of current web technologies (html, css, javascript)
• Usability training
Compensation: $45-65k DOE with excellent benefits like medical, paid holidays, 401(k) and more!
