Had to use an existing design but want to "fix" it up a little?

I coded that project but for "political" reasons they had to keep the existing design. Now that the site is up I'm free to tweak it some and would like some advice. I've already made some adjustments over the original design (Which was a three column layout with the same width as it is now), but I am no designer.

I liek the site. Nice colors, generic structure, I think it looks fine, nothing flashy
