Design question?

Hello,
I'm new to the boards and had a question. and wasn't sure if this is the correct thread but here goes.

In the picture I've attached, at the top of th site there is a top border (grey)that goes straight across the page and then cuts down diagonally and the straightens out again. Can someone explain how this is done? I thought it was a graphic but when I tried to see the image I copied it and opened it and all it was was a single pixel gif. I thought that it might be a frame or something like that.

I'm mainly just curious, can someone help???

without being able to see the source code i would hazard a guess that it was done through a css file with image slices to make the whole and you copied only the "flat" part of the image.
