    Pinterest isn’t just all fun and games. Businesses both big and small are currently turning to the social media site as a new way to connect with customers, and for good reason, too. Jeweler Rachel Ball used Pinterest to increase traffic to her online shop by 22 percent and in turn has seen an increase of sales by 20 percent. The site, which allows users to “pin” photos, videos and links to digital “pinboards,” reached some 70 million users this month and averages 2.5 billion monthly page views. In addition, an average of 80 percent of pins get “repined” or shared by users, making the website an excellent avenue for marketing your business’s brand to a large group of people.

    It has been proven that Pinterest when used regularly and consistently helps with driving traffic. I was reading a blog post from Michelle Macphearson's blog, she says her site receives at least 1,500 daily visitors from Pinterest. It becomes her top traffic source as a result. But it does take time to get there.

    And does this "top traffic source" create any revenue or conversions of any kind?

    if the business isn't visual, like say an accountants, pinterest is a waste of your time, if the business is visual, like a cafe, then yes, it can be used to your advantage. Still Almost every user I know on pinterest, use it for one of a few purposes...
    1) dinner ideas. 90% of the time the recipe is with the pin.
    2) Visual mood boards - designers, et al.
    3) Cat lovers.

    And how does posting a picture of yourself boost traffic??

    How is traffic "good for SEO"??

    Qualified traffic MIGHT improve conversions, provided your pages are optimised for conversions, but it will do nothing at all for "SEO".

    If you're at home with boards, then Pinterest won’t be too tough to induce your head around. This makes it a lot of easier for individuals to relate to your complete and showcasing your passion, interests and areas of experience may be a good way of connecting with potential customers.

    I don't use Pinterest because I don't see how it could benefit my business. But my friend uses it for her recipe website and it works wonderfully. I think Pinterest will help you if you're promoting some kind of a lifestyle. I also read somewhere that the majority of its users are women. Just something to have in mind when deciding whether to use Pinterest or not.

    This is true of EVERY "social site" you abuse in the name of promotion, if your 'product' does not 'fit' with the user demographic of the site, You ARE wasting your time and simply annoying the users and site operators.

    Based on what I've learned Pinterest traffic is known as "Blatant traffic", meaning that people don't stick around that long on your site. I have a website which I create a number of pins a and link them to my site, some day I receive as much as 120 visitors, but when analyzing the traffic through Google analytics, the bounce rate stands at 90%. It pretty much the same to other sites. That kind of traffic where people are in a rush to get out, chances are there will not be a decent conversion rate.

    No it won't.
    Your market segment HAS to match the Pintrest user demographic before it will have any effect on anything.

    This;
