I am thinking of building a site for publishing articles.

Something similar to this.

Assuming I will need to use a CMS, which I know nothing about, anyone have any suggestions on what I should use?

i used postnuke on writingwise.com which contains articles but there might be something more suited to your needs out there... go articles is just an article bank and I think there might be some specific applications just for those somewhere.
