aligning images

I'm trying to create a row of 8 images horizontally centered in the footer of my page. I'd like there to be a one word title above each image that describes what each image is. What is the best way to do it? I've tried a few things and can't seem to get it right. I can either get the images to lineup centered in a row but the titles show up next to the images instead of above the image. Or I get the titles to show up above the image but the images are all stacked up vertically in a line.

You might use a table with no border. One row would have the images, and the other would have titles- I've used this method before and it works pretty well.
